Yo fellas,
I'ts a sad day for me...my last day in I-town. I just got back from Empires and proving how much out of shape you cna get in one summer. Having said that I feel half dead today, though I'm sure Pete will feel worse when he pisses his pants. I did manage to take Silverwhich ws pretty sweet and had some pretty good performances (HJ not being one of them, as usual). I ended up going 6277 which isn't that bad; here are the results....http://www.empirestategames.org/events/open/athletics.htm#AT4511
Anyway, I'm making my move down to Philly on Sunday with the 'rents who came down for the games. I'm pretty psyched about the move, but it's pretty damn scary. I start work on THurs, but have an orientation on Tuesday, so hopefully they'll tell me where I'll be working then.
I get to keep my cornell email address, and I've got teh same phone # for at least a year.
My new address is 2300 Naudain St Apt N, which probably doesn't mean a damn thing to any of you, but if yuou go across the Bridge by Franklin Fielkd to downtown Philly (Center City) then I'm only 7 blocks away, so that's pretty awesome as far as me trying to keep in shape and all.
I'm out, but I'm sure I'll be back in I-town before too long, and I'll see you all when you're down at Penn.
Stingin it hard, and keepin it real,
E

Yay Stingpoomps!!
Way to go Pat and Pete. It's great that you guys can still get off the ground (even if only a little bit). I vote that pete gets one more shot on a real track (he's old you know). I was very impressed with the pictures and video. It almost looks like Pat was staying away from the bar. Spyke... I'm sorry that you are a celebrity. I know how you feel about Ithaca as being your home. When I think about my life and what I miss while i'm here, i think about Ithaca. I don't miss anything from back home. Anyway, I want a picture of Pell's face when he sees his pink room.
I have to go to my first class. What? class already? Enjoy your summer boys. later

PS in case you were confused as to why i'm going to class on a Sunday Night, remember I'm 14 hours ahead of NY, 17 hours ahead of Cali, so it's actually monday 12:50pm here

well, i was going to say that you guys suck for jumping so low, however, if you consider the fact that i could not walk a couple weeks ago, i dont think im one to talk really. i would love to be able to jump. actually, i would love to be able to do just about anything. i have been trying to get some lifting in, but, while lifting, i continually have to stop because of pain... oh, well. my ankle should be healed sometime before the season starts, but for now i am stuck having to wait it out...

im back in HI. stuck on the rock here. its nice, but for some reason i continue to feel that this place is less and less like "home". there are a number of factors that contribute to this feeling. i think the thing thats hardest for me here is the fact that im kind of a celebrity here... i know it sounds concieted of me to say, but its true. apparently, ive been in the local papers a lot having competed post-season with some speculation that i would compete at the trials. ok, so heres the kind of thing i get: i went to the Y yesterday to get a quick bike/lift in. when i went to check in i told the receptionist my name and immediately some random guy next to me starts talking to me like he knows me. apparently, he just knows my name, my school, where i went to hs, my events, and some of my stats. this is something i get a lot back here and its really kinda freaking me out cause i cant go anywhere without having people watching me.... it gets a bit more complicated cause i went to a hs that is strongly affiliated with the largest church on maui, so whatever i do on maui gets reflected upon not only the school, but the church....

regardless of that, it is manditory that, when flying into hawaii, you claim any agriculture/harmful items you brought with you. for the first time ever, when the box for home address came up, i naturally wrote in my ithaca address. i didnt even think about it until later.

anyway... being home isnt exactly relaxing. its actually a lot more of a headache. what is nice though is that i get away from some drama back home... everyone knows what i mean.

ok, well i am going to get a swim workout in seeing as that doesnt hurt my ankle at all.... i hope everyones doing well (except for pell, who i hope loves his freshly painted pink room back in ithaca).

So here's a recap of the events of the Cal State Games.

On July 14, 2004 I set out on a 4 AM skateboard ride to the Civic Center Bart Station, with backpack in tow. Ripping down the San Francisco hills is pretty nice when there isn't anyone else on the road. I got to the Bart station with no problem, and promptly waited 20 minutes for the first train to the Eastbay, and once I got to Oakland, I had to try to get from the station to the airport. Mind you my plane was scheduled for departure at 6:45 AM which means you can log in at the auto-check in kiosks no later than 6:15. It's about a 15 minute "Air Bart" shuttle ride, and the service starts at 6 AM.

So I decided to take the #50 bus to the station, no worries (or so I thought) as it runs all day, about every 20 minutes.

I was standing at 20 to six at the stop waving at the woman driver, and she completely blew past me...so I was left cursing, with the option to take a cab (having about 5 bucks in my pocket, this wasn't an option) or wait for the 6am "Air Bart" (still 20 min away) or hold out for the next bus...so I just waited and tried to relax.

So it's 5 min to six, and the next #50 comes around, and I ask "Does this go to the airport?" The woman replies, "Yes." and promptly sits in the bus, without moving for about 3 minutes (so I'm freaking out, wondering if I'll make it to the airport in time) finally, she gets on the way, and we get to the aiport (terminal 2) at about 10 min after six (and we passed the "Air Bart" so I was pleased I didn't try to take that). I hop on the skate, and rush into the door, and Jet Blue is all the way at the end of Terminal one...I get logged in at 12 after six, with a full 3 minutes to spare...score!

I fall asleep on the plane, and wake up in Long Beach, which is pretty sweet...about a 20 degree temp. change for the better. I grabbed a rental, and drove to Hermosa, and met up with some friends at Hennessey's right on the beach, after a quick swim (and a few games of Marco Polo) at the pool. Then my buddy Nick Doyle and I walked up and down the boardwalk, and I got a major bit of sun on the face...(food was great, big burgers and mammoth 12" fries)

I got on the road around 5 and started on my way to Patty McD's house and got super grumpy in the traffic, till I hit the toll road and was ripping it around 80, and still getting passed like I was standing still...the SoCals drive *real* quick.

Best thing in the world for a sore back from driving...hit the beach, and surf. Pat and I went to a nice spot with rolling waves, and really warm H20. My first ride was the best, I actually got up to my feet, grabbed the rail for support, and rode it in. super stoked. We capped the night off with Rubio's, and at an s-load of fish tacos.

The next morning, we drove down to San Diego and Patrick Henry High School. We were well rested and the sun was out super warm (I love jumping in the heat). The problem was the HJ apron was ASPHALT! Not wanting to kill ourselves, we lobby for the HJ pit ot be moved to the turf infield. The Nike turf was ok, to jump off of, however, neither of us ever got to full speed.

Now for the results...

Patty wins over all, and his age group with a whopping leap of 6'5"
Pete gets second over all, and wins his age group (old fart 25-29) by default, as there were no other competitors with a HUGE clearance of 6'3".

So what does this mean...it's up to the Jury of Sting Poompsters....

1.) Pete has to pee his pants 'cause he jumped like a weenie
2.) Pete gets one more shot on a real track to jump 2.02 and the wager with Pell still stands because of turf conditions...

it's up to you guys.

Holla Back.

Greetings from down under!
I hope team sting poomps is doing well in the States. I've just arrived and been out to the pubs like whoa. It is crazy how hard the people party around here. Unlike back home, the pubs, or hotels, or clubs, whatever you want to call them, don't close until like 5 am, and it's hard to just go home when you are tired, so you end up staying out extremely late. Anyway, I hope the rest of you guys are having a good time and hopefully keeping in shape. later boys.

ps- a 14 yr old girl spyke?

btw, who the hell is ryan???

so i saw spiderman 2 tonight... they definitely set that up for another one... not that im complaining, i followed the comics as a kid and think the movies are awesome. peter parker sure does run like a ass though. you can really tell toby mcguire has never actually ran in his life other than what he does on screen. anyone else have any thoughts. btw, i have just about completely lost all of my mobility, so i decided im going to work completely on upperbody all summer and come in the biggest jumper in the northeast (with the exception of pat, who is a fatass). ok well i think thats enough for now... god knows im really just posting cause i am avoiding dealing with the real life bullshit that is being in ithaca. the place isnt too bad, its the company that makes things difficult sometime. go figure. anyway, that is all.......

btw, i am thinking about getting a bike- that is unless i hurt my ankle another time and will permenantly be walking around with the nice little limp i have had to develop of late.

ok, now that is all...

I've got no rebuttal for my 2.01 jump and I admit, even that jump was kind of lucky. I'm just happy it wasn't another DFL finish. Ending the season with 2 DLF's would suck my nuts, so I'll settle with 2.01.

P.S. I'm still working on the roll of film with Patrick pissin' himself.

hey....

though she was 14, she was consistently jumping almost as well as some of the girls on cornells team... plus, it was capture the flag and not tennis ball tag!!!

btw, pell i beat you... i jumped 6'8" a few weeks ago. no warm up. 5 jumps all day.

SO I got an email from Artie the One Man Party, saying that one D. Pell did ok at Junior Nationals...

6'7"??? I'm nearly 25 and can jump that righty...

let's go man...

I've got a challenge for you, if I jump *over* 2.01m at Cal State Games, You have to piss yourself...and if I don't...well

You should still piss yourself.

p.s. (I heard Spyke sprained his ankle getting thrown out in Tennis Ball Tag at camp...by a 14 year old girl...) Nice job champ!

p.p.s. To Patty, I'm coming to SD to jump your ass better be there to watch the potential pee off...the jumping is at...
